The Meeting

When Stephanie was working for Music for All, she worked with the roommate, Katie, of two of Matt’s best friends, Katy and Jacob. Katie was having a Christmas party to watch “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”. Matt ventured over to hang out with his friends and Katie mentioned that she had a friend he should meet. He asked Katie how he would know who Stephanie was. Katie replied, “She has long flowing lioness hair.” Confused, Matt asked, “What? Are you hooking me up with a Thundercat?” Stephanie thought Matt was acting peculiar that night. He kept disappearing and returning wearing different shirts and carrying different drinks from outside. She found out later that he lived 4 houses down. From there, Matt and Stephanie bonded over Apples to Apples and the Griswalds. Matt left for Nebraska the next day for Christmas. They spoke over Facebook for 2 weeks until their first date on December 28th at Benihana.

The Proposal

On their bi-annual trip to Nebraska to see Matt’s family, Matt made reservations at the French Café for what Stephanie thought was their 2nd anniversary. After dinner, he had arranged for a carriage ride around downtown Omaha. By pure accident, they got to take the Cinderella Carriage, which was decorated with bells and lights. After about an hour long ride in 20 degree weather, Matt had the carriage driver pull over in ConAgra Park, which was decorated with thousands of lights, and asked her to marry him. It was perfect… and of course, she said yes!
